About the book

Someone I Know Lives in Prison follows a child on their journey to visit an incarcerated loved one. So as to ensure any child can see themselves or their loved one on the page, the illustrations are drawn to be gender non-specific and multi-cultural. The illustrations are a realistic visual for a child to prepare and reflect on during and after visiting a loved one in prison.

The illustrations and language in the book are respectful to everyone involved-- inmates, guards, and visitors alike. The author has taken into account that not all prisons operate the exact same way with visitations. The words, "you may," are used throughout the book to account for variations.
